Diversity Model (work in progress) proposed by Nieves
During my first week at Labein I have had 1-2-1 meetings with 17 members of Disonancias team. Majority of them during our meeting have been developing first models of Sustainable Urban Environment Model (SUEM).
All created models will be presented on the blog and everybody is encouraged to comment on them, suggest improvements, other approaches etc. Every voice is important. Please feel free to comment in Basque, Spanish or English.
Today you can see first model exploring one of the elements of SUE (Sustainable Urban Environment) - Diversity created by Nieves.
Diversity: “variety of persons, creative chaos, cultural mix, network collaboration, multidisciplinary teams, polilandscaping, abundance, high degree of biodiversity, intergenerational communication and peace”

do we see twice the model of diversity or does it have two faces, which are in fact the same? Interesting that it has this mirror effect, or that it should come in pairs. There cannot be just one model of diversity. Could be like snows: to our eyes snows look always the same; but it's known that inuits have 18 na mes for them:
akuvijarjuak = thin ice in the sea;
anijo = snow on the ground;
hiko = ice (generic expression); hikuliaq = thin ice;
ivuneq = high pack ice;
kaniktshaq = snow (generic expression);
kanut = fresh snow without any ice;

I will start trying to explain what I was trying to figure out with that object... From the list of topics regarding the SUEM I chose DIVERSITY, as it is at this moment the one more revealing for me, maybe because of my current activity at LABEIN.
Taken into account the above the object try to represent de POWER OF DIVERSITY. Imagine a long tunnel or pipe, where you can put in it whatever you want... inside, all the
ingredients are mixed and suddendly like magic thing a great form of colourful and powerful combination of the "whole" appear from the inside... That is all!! Much more simple than Borja reflexion on it... But thank you Borja!
